the Gunpowder plot
Remember, remember the 5th of November, gunpowder treason and plot.
On the 5th of November, 1605, a plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament and the monarchy was discovered at the eleventh hour. Guy Fawkes, a key instigator of the plot, was found hidden in the parliament cellar chambers, amongst twenty old wine barrels filled with explosive gunpowder.
Had the plot succeeded, it would have changed the course of history.
the winemaker
Whilst also hailing from Yorkshire and a fellow alumni (albeit four centuries apart), this winemaker’s ideology is to use these barrels for good… to ignite your taste buds.
Gunpowder Wines is a passion project that pays homage to Yorkshire heritage and ancestral roots. Yorkshire folk are known for being elaborate storytellers, and never letting the truth get in the way of a good story. Every time a bottle of Gunpowder wine is opened presents a new opportunity to share the story of the Gunpowder Plot.
